Climate- Overall average temperatures and patterns of weather changes over a decade or so. (the pizza)
Troposphere- Atmosphere closest to us.
Stratosphere- Second layer of atmosphere. Right above troposphere.
Albedo- Reflecting sunlight when it hits the Earth.
Hadley Cells- Tropical atmospheric bubble around the top and bottom of ITCZ.
ITCZ- Stands for Intertropical Convergence Zone. High precipitation and thunderstorms.
Polar Cells- Located at 60th parallel with cool and dry air
Coriolis Effect- Cause fluids to curve as they go across the Earth's surface.
Gyres- Large rotating Ocean currents.
Upwelling- When bottom water, which is cool and abundant in nutrients go upward and hot and less abundant in nutrients water goes on the bottom of the ocean by the wind.
Thermohaline Circulation- Large Ocean current created by surface heat and freshwater.
ENSO- Stands for El Nino Souther Oscillation. Sea temperatures that are extremely cold or hot at the coast of South America that cause some climatic changes.
Rain Shadow- The back side of the mountain that is dry unlike the front side where the rain falls. the mountain top blocks the rain from going to the other side.
